Kasernen
< BACK
Kasernen, built in 1876 , was an apartment building for quarry workers and their families. The granite walls are 90 centimeters thick. Originally there were twelve small apartments in the building.
BUILDING STONE
The three quarries Pumpebrottet, Kasernbrottet and Bastebrottet are linked by transport routes and piles of scrap stones. The quarries were opened by the company Kessel & Röhl to deliver building stone. Stone from Kasernbrottet was sent to Germany to build the Kiel Canal in the 1880s and 1890s.
