Rallvägar och Engelska parken
< BACK
You are now on the best preserved “rallväg” in Vånevik. The word is a swedification of the word railway.
Rallvägarna were used to transport finished stone products to the quays and scrap stone to stone depots. Longer distances were operated by locomotive and had more robust constructions. In other distances the carriages were drawn by horses or by men.
An English landscape park was laid out during the early 20th century. It is characterized by the red granite. Exotic plants like nesting of spirea, barberry, golden chain, hawthorn, spindle tree and wild roses were planted in the area.
Today, some tracks are used as walking paths, while others are overgrown. The trails have a total distance of about 1300 meters.
